Packed up at the hostel this morning ready to hit the trail. Tink shaved her head. Awesome! Only KB, Slims, Apache, and myself headed out today. We lacked motivation to leave town. Stopped at Subway on the way out for lunch. Then by an ice cream shop. We finally left town and headed down the Virginia Creeper Trail, which the AT follows for about half a mile. Upon entering the woods again, KB had an announcement for us. He said "Hey guys, I passed this girl when we were coming up the stairs. She was clearly stoned. And she said, Wow! You have rainbow eyes" (referring to the multi-colored tint of KB's sunglasses). And so, Rainbow Eyes was born. Today would turn out to be some of the most fun I have had hiking so far. The four of us guys started breaking out in song, and the time passed by quickly. The frustrating part was none of us could even keep any song going past the first verse or two, or sometimes we could only remember choruses. Finally, after a few hours of singing merrily down the trail, we completed a full rendition of Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Good times. We passed a few hikers throughout the afternoon. They definitely could hear us coming, haha! We stopped for the night to set up camp at a small pond along the trail after successfully escaping 11 miles away from Damascus.
